SBSA Reserve Clinic Party

When: 3:00 Saturday Oct 22
Where: 2774 Puesta Del Sol, S.B.

The Clinic will provide an opportunity to practice deploying your chute in the simulator of your choice and then have experienced re-packers inspect your deployment system and repack the reserve with new bands and bungees (if required). Your deployment technique will be analyzed and feedback provided.

The clinic will feature a presentation from PG national champ Mitch Riley about how, when and where to deploy your reserve– including a discussion about basic and advanced techniques for wing management that minimizes the need for a deployment.
Willy D and John G will be there for your HG gear needs and will have info, discussion and a Q&A session about emergency procedures for plumbers.

The people who design reserve systems recommend that they get repacked every six months. Previous clinics have revealed that as many as 25% of us have systems that will not deploy correctly. The problems are usually from poor maintenance, improperly rigged equipment or limited understanding of deployment sequence issues.

It’s been over 2 years since the last reserve clinic in SB. How long has it been since your reserve has been inspected?
Bring your helmets!

If you don’t need any repack stuff done, come for the party anyway. The SBSA is providing food and Beer!
Kids and dogs welcome.

If you only want a repack/inspection, you can drop off your harness on the front porch any time during the weekend. Don’t leave all your accessories such as varios and flight suits etc., and please ID your gear (Tape and pen on the porches)
You can pick up your harnesses from the fort porch any time after Monday the 24th.

Contact John G for more info if needed 886 6160
The cost for a repack is $50. No charge for using the simulator

New SBSA group chat

Hello SBSA pilots,

In order to help support better communications while trying to get a group to go flying we are switching over to a new group chat program in place of our current chat box.  This new group chat will be in the same place on the website and you can use it there like you do the current one today.  The bonus is that the new chat has phone apps that will allow notifications when posts are made to the group.  The hope is that just like the current chat box we have now on the site, pilots will use the group chat to coordinate flying activities.  And we can also use it for occasional notifications that need to be relayed to pilots about information for flying our local sites.

Here is what you need to do to switch over to the new group chat.
1. Go to the club website and use it much like you do today SBSA.INFO
2. Download and install the Telegram messenger app for your mobile device
For Android
For Iphone/Ipad
or sign up and use the web version in a browser
3. Web version
or install it on you computer
4. Mac/PC/Linux
Regardless of which way you signed up for telegram via your device above, you will need to click on this link to join the SBSA group chat.
Once signed up for Telegram, click this link to join group chat –> SBSA Group Chat
You will not see any history when you first join the group chat.  All of the previous history can be seen at SBSA.INFO club website.  You will retain all the history from when you sign up moving forward.
The telegram app has notifications that will help when trying to coordinate to go flying.  You may want to learn about the notifications and how to turn them on and off.  For instance when you are at work and everyone is blowing up your phone with notifications that they are going flying might be a good time to turn off the notifications rather then removing the app because you are annoyed that you can’t go flying.  Just turn them back on when you do want to go flying and get the messages  that people are meeting to go fly.
If you have any questions – please email John and he’ll get you squared away (
